I bought a slightly smaller version of this at Walmart for less than $20. It’s perfect for me at work but not durable enough for my husband’s construction projects.

You can get the 24 piece version from Sears (with poor reviews) for $20, $10 less than Amazon’s price.

Strange how you can’t find any mention of these kits on the KR Tools website.

This sturdy tool kit is perfect for the occasional handyman job. The tools are heavyweight and sturdy, and fit snugly into the plastic compartments of the kit. Every home would benefit from having this handy resource.

For those who are not very handy and just need an occasional screwdriver, hammer, etc. for minor repairs, this set would work as it includes a decent variety of tools. However, there are other “homeowner’s tool kits” with more tools, more screwdriver bits (including hex bits for a lot of furniture, fitness equipment, and other home assembly projects), and more useful tool bags that actually cost the same or less.

For the enthusiast like myself, I find the hammer too small for serious work. I am used to having a complete screwdriver set with different size heads, lengths, etc. The pliers don’t come with wire cutters, which is a downside. The utility knife uses the thinner break-off blade for craft work, not the heavy duty utility knives that can be used for drywall and other serious work. The box it comes with is custom fit for the included tools, meaning no expansion, no space to store accessories, etc. If you are going to pay $28 for this set, might as well spend a few more dollars and get at least a small entry level mechanics’ tool set that will be more reliable and have more practical tools.

I’d not recommend this tool kit.

I have had a number of these tool kits in the past. Mainly, they were used by my wife for those minor household repairs not requiring a trip out to my large disorganized toolbox. Most of the previous kits seriously lacked quality either in the case or tools and usually both. This kit is far different.

When I first received it I immediately realized it was different than my past kits. The case is extremely sturdy and I dare to say rock solid. I also noticed the design of the box is well thought out. The tools all (without exception) have a heavy quality feel. I compared these tools to the tools I have from a similiar product made by Apollo (or at least marketed by them). It is obvious the manufacturing processes used to make the tools in this kit are far better than the Apollo. As evident by the picture, the kit comes with a number of fastners including picture hangers. This leads me to my next observation.

This kit is obviously not intended for a full time auto mechanic or construction worker! It is intended to be a quick solution to minor repairs or projects like picture hanging, fixing loose knobs, minor wall repair, toy assembly, furniture assembly, etc…. It is a PERFECT solution for dorm rooms, first time appartments, even new homeowners. Since we received the kit about a week ago, we have used it to hang pictures and assemble Christmas presents allowing me to avoid the mess of my larger toolbox in the garage.

If you have kids moving into a dorm room, get this kit. It would make a perfect present. Want to keep your wife out of your tool box? Get her this kit. Have a friend always borrowing your tools? Get them this kit.
